LOCATION
Finsbay is a small village on the rocky south eastern coast of the Isle of Harris in an area known as "The Bays". This area has a predominantly rugged landscape consisting of weathered granite and Lewisian Gneiss one of the oldest rocks in the world. Finsbay is a crofting community where Gaelic is spoken.
There is easy access to the port of Leverburgh (approximately 3 miles by the short route and 6 miles via Rodel) where there is a ferry link to North Uist . The area is popular for hill walking, fly fishing, cycling and ornithology. For those who are golf enthusiasts the Harris golf course is approximately 30 minutes away. This course was once described by Nick Faldo as “ an undiscovered gem”. Loch Finsbay offers the opportunity for seal and otter watching and the river is used by migrating salmon and seatrout. There are up to 50 fishing lochs in the area. This area is a very peaceful location with the wonderful Harris hills as a backdrop.

Approximately 13 miles south of Tarbert Ferry terminal if you come via Skye, and about 56 miles from Stornoway Airport and Ferry terminal. It is only 6 miles from Leverburgh Ferry terminal if you are crossing from North Uist. Caledonian MacBrayne operate ferry routes to and from Harris, Lewis and The Uists, 7 days a week. There are daily flights to Stornoway from Inverness (approximately 40 minutes), or Glasgow (approximately 1 hour). Flights are also available from Edinburgh and Aberdeen. From Stornoway, it's a truly impressive scenic car journey to Harris (about 2 hours).
