Broadford lies in the south end of the scenic Isle of Skye and this property is in the centre of the village The house is situated next to one of the local restaurants with the local supermarket and filling station a few steps along the road. It’s also only a short walk from the local primary school. Broadford has a medical centre, a hospital, chemist, community hall, a number of restaurants and cafes, craft shops and a harbour. Secondary schooling is available in Portree some 25 miles to the north, or in Plockton (which includes the National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music) 14 miles distant having crossed the Skye Bridge. Skye has a thriving tourist industry and was recently voted the ‘most desirable place to live in Britain’. It offers a wide variety of outdoor pursuits, including mountain climbing, kayaking, fishing and pleasant coastal walks. Scotland’s internationally recognised centre for Gaelic Language and Culture, Sabhal Mor Ostaig, UHI, is located nearby on the Sleat peninsula. A bridge to Kyle of Lochalsh (9 miles distant) or a ferry service from Armadale (16 miles south) to Mallaig connect Skye to the mainland. There is a ferry service to the Western Isles from Uig (40 miles to the north). A rail link is available at Kyle of Lochalsh with a regular service to Inverness and onwards to Glasgow and Edinburgh.
