Habitat for Humanity Global Village Challenge 2009
23 September 2009
Brian Inkster and his wife, Nicola Walls (an Architect with Page \ Park) are going to Argentina in November to assist with the building of homes for families living in poverty. Working for the charity Habitat for Humanity they will be building alongside other volunteers and with ‘stakeholder’ families who will eventually live in the houses.
Brian and Nicola will also be fundraising for Habitat for Humanity. The cost of the trip to Argentina has already been met by Inksters Solicitors. Therefore, every penny that is raised by Brian and Nicola will go straight to Habitat for Humanity to directly assist the build project. Inksters Solicitors have set up a dedicated website and blog to help in the fundraising efforts. The website and blog were very kindly designed and donated by Innovation Digital.
As well as welcoming individual donations of any size Brian and Nicola are seeking minimum donations of £200 from corporate sponsors who will get their company logo printed on the hard hats and/or T-shirts worn during the build project.
Brian Inkster said “everyday, as a property lawyer, I deal with conveyancing transactions helping people in Scotland acquire new homes. Nicola spends her working day designing buildings to create a positive influence on peoples’ lives. However, not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to secure their own home. We are looking forward to learning some practical skills, forging new friendships and most importantly ‘making a difference’ to the life of an Argentine family in need of a home.”
Brian and Nicola will be using modern communication methods by blogging and tweeting to let everyone know what they are doing in the run up to the Habitat for Humanity Global Village Challenge. They also hope to blog and tweet during the build from Argentina but that will depend very much on their ability to obtain an internet connection and/or mobile phone reception from where they are working. You can follow their journey and sponsor them at www.inkstersgive.com.
