Moncrieff v Jamieson at Strathclyde University

Brian Inkster today gave a lecture on Moncrieff v Jamieson to the Conveyancing class at the Law School of the University of Strathclyde. This followed on from last week's lecture on the Law of Servitudes. Both lectures were given by Brian to the part time class at Strathclyde University yesterday evening.
The Moncrieff v Jamieson lecture is always well received by the students (this is the third year that Brian has given the lecture to the LL.B students at Strathclyde University). The lecture brings the case alive in a way that reading the reported case law (Sheriff Court, Court of Session and House of Lords) cannot. The students get to see photographs and plans that formed productions in the court proceedings. They hear about the little known Breach of Interim Interdict action which went unreported although it involved an Appeal to the Sheriff Principal. They also get snippets of the Sheriff Court proceedings as reported at the time by The Shetland Times.
The more colourful aspects of the case go down well with the students: The blockade of 'the spur', the police arriving, rockets being fired, visitors being chased away, young matrons, Lady Macbeth, the cat and Virgil.
