Sponsoring Shetland Junior Chess Championship 2016

Inksters are sponsoring the Shetland Junior Chess Championship 2016. This will be the sixth consecutive year that Inksters have sponsored the event from and after the Inksters' Shetland Museum and Archives Junior Chess Competition held in 2011 to coincide with the exhibition of the Lewis Chessmen in Shetland. The 2011 competition reignited interest of Chess in Shetland following a gap of many years since the last Chess Championships were held in the Northern Isles.

The Inksters Shetland Junior Chess Championship 2016 will be held in the Shetland Museum and Archives Auditorium on Saturday 12 November 2016 at 1pm (Registration at 12.30pm). There will be 5 rounds with 15mins per player per round. It is open to under 17s only. To pre-register e-mail: chess@inksters.com

Traditionally these four-hour annual tournaments are great fun and (to the surprise of many) fascinating to watch. Parents, friends and chess-lovers alike are invited to spectate.

Inksters, whose founder, Brian Inkster, is a former Shetland Junior Chess Champion, have provided a handsome trophy for the winner and cash prizes for the top three placings in the Championship, and Ken Beer is offering an additional cash prize for the highest placed primary school player.
